Note on General Elections 2024

The Chief Election Commissioner has announced the dates for the General Election for 18th Lok Sabha and the same will be held between 19th Apr 2024 to 01st Jun 2024. The dates for the election will be on – April 19, April 26, May 07, May 13, May 20, May 25, and Jun 01 at various constituencies and the counting of votes for all constituencies will be held on 04th Jun 2024.

The election commissioner may declare a “paid holiday” on the day of Poll for all employees working at various establishments and the notification may be published shortly. Further to that , the respective State Government may also publish the notification separately,  however the same will be issued only few days prior to the Poll date. Considering the past years notifications, the state government may declare a Paid holiday on the day of Poll for all employees who are eligible to vote. As per the notification issued by some of the states in the past years, there is also a possibility to declare as “Closed Day” for all establishments by the respective state government on the day of Election. We would suggest that establishments may plan for a paid holiday for all employees who are eligible to vote and further decision can be taken once the notification is issued by the department.

Schedule for bye-election to Twenty-Six (26) Assembly Constituencies of Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal are also scheduled on April 19, April 26, May 07, May 13, May 20, May 25, and Jun 01 at various constituencies and the counting of votes for all constituencies will be held on 04th Jun 2024.
