The Government of Haryana, vide its latest notification dated 4th July 2025, has reiterated the permission for establishments such as IT/ITeS, logistics and warehousing, banking, hotels, and restaurants to engage women employees during night shifts (i.e., between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM), subject to the previously prescribed conditions.
There is no change in the conditions stipulated in earlier notifications. The only key amendment pertains to the application process under Section 30 of the Punjab Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1958. Going forward, employers are required to submit the exemption application online through the S&E portal within 2 weeks prior to the commencement of the period for which the exemption is sought.
Further, the exemption shall be granted based on self-certification submitted through the portal. This supersedes the earlier requirement of manual submission 30 days in advance and required to filed through Haryana Government portal only.
